Frequently asked questions
Do I need to go to court?
Many licensing applications require a court hearing. We prepare the application and represent you, and we will tell you if you need to attend.
When do licences need to be renewed?
Most licences to sell alcohol are renewed each year, and the licensing year ends on 30 September. Missing a renewal can cause serious problems, so plan ahead.
Can a licence be transferred to me?
In many cases, yes. We can advise on what is needed to transfer an existing licence when you buy or take over a business.
Is licensing law changing?
Yes. The licensing system is being reformed, and some changes are being introduced in stages. We can tell you how the current rules apply to you.
How much will it cost?
Before we start, we’ll give you a written notice of our likely costs, as the law requires.
